About Bill Masaru Urquhart
Bill has over 20 years of experience in tennis that he acquired over a lot of training and competition up through and including the NCAA D1 and Professional levels. Bill didn’t choose to pursue professional tennis as he sought a career in Special Operations medicine and achieved that goal soon after entering the Army. Using that knowledge, he worked with other Special Operations personnel on physical training, medical advice, nutrition, and managing environmental heat. Using that work ethic and lessons as a high level athlete and soldier, he applied himself to the shooting sports and succeeded. While many other trainers only have experience in shooting, the needed sport aspects such as footwork, strength, and conditioning are subjects that Bill has a great deal of diverse knowledge to share.

Medical Background
Bill served as a Special Operations Combat Medic out of Fort Bragg, NC for many years. In addition to treating patients in field and clinical environments, his responsibilities included teaching non medical Special Operations soldiers to be able to handle basic trauma injuries. After retiring from Active Duty, Bill became an instructor for the American College of Surgeons’ Stop the Bleed program with the same teaching goals to civilian students. Bill also maintains his paramedic license and continually attends classes to improve his medical knowledge and capabilities which includes becoming a CPR/AED/First Aid instructor for the American Red Cross, and holds a Masters Degree in Biomedical Science from the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.
Fitness Background
Bill has been involved with high level athletics his entire life. Physical fitness was imperative for him to get to the high levels of tennis that he reached. That first hand experience with training involved on and off court training, that included gym time, cross-country running, and swimming. It was quickly apparent that not only did his performance increase with greater overall fitness, but also his injury rate and recovery time significantly decreased. Preventative medicine in the form of proper training and nutrition had been set in his being as the most important factor. That fitness level was needed for his transition into Special Operations where he excelled through even more extreme physical demands. As a Special Operations Combat Medic, Bill was taught a great deal of musculoskeletal information for both medical and training purposes. This information and experience combined with his tennis experience to help develop workouts for fellow soldiers that helped them prevent or recover from injuries. With his medical background including nutrition adding to the understanding of training, Bill helped fellow soldiers figure out their nutritional needs for operational performance levels. In addition to practical experience from top tier sports and military training, Bill holds Fitness Trainer and Nutritionist certifications from ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association).
